Co HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." marking and left side of barrel roll marked “COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER 44-40”. Lower left of frame with “three-date in three-line” patent marking. The revolver was completely refinished at some point in time, leaving some of the markings weak or illegible, but leaving the barrel markings clear and crisp. The revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter that confirms this gun was shipped to JP Moore & Sons of New Yor, City on September 5, 1885, with ten other guns of the same configuration: 7 ½” barreled .44-40 revolvers with nickel finishes and hard rubber grips. The revolver is accompanied by an apparent period of use Slim Jim holster that fits the revolver perfectly.
