Antique Japanese Samurai wakizashi signed Bishu Osafune Sukesada. In a magnolia wood shirasaya.
Bishu means Bizen, the present day Okayama prefecture and Osafune is a well-known sword smithing village. The maker was Sukesada living in Osafune Bizen. This sword has a temper with undulating high rounded peaks and wood grain laminations. They are very noticeable and show many small martensite formations in the temper and grain. The work is in keeping with that of Genbejo Sukesada working in 1530.
This sword has a cutting edge of 21 5/8".
