Colt 1849 Pocket Revolver with Engraved Initials CKB {ANT}

.31 caliber. 4" octagonal barrel. SN: 97567 (mfg. ca. 1854}. Blued and color casehardened finish, silver plated brass backstrap and triggerguard, one-piece smooth walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with unfluted five chambered cylinder, toggle link loading lever, hammer nose notch rear sight and brass cone front sight. Barrel with two-line bracketed New York City address. Frame with standard small "COLT'S/PATENT" marking, cylinder with stagecoach hold up scene roll mark. All visible serial numbers match, including the wedge, with the loading lever unnumbered. Backstrap engraved with the initials CKB in fancy script. Consignor notes identify this revolver to Cornelius K Baker of the 100th and 117th New York Infantry. Baker enlisted in the 100th NY on August 5, 1862 as a 1st Sergeant was almost immediately discharged and was re-enlisted in Company B of the 117th New York Infantry on August 9, 1862. He was promoted to 2nd lieutenant on October 24, 1862 and discharged on February 19, 1863. During his time of service, the regiment spent most of their duty in the defenses of Washington.

Condition
Good. Bore good, moderately oxidized with strong rifling. Metal with some traces of blue in protected areas and showing an attractive plum brown patina over most of the surfaces. Markings remain mostly visible and legible. Metal with some scattered surface oxidation and numerous minor dings and impact marks. Brass with traces of silver. Mechanically functional action is somewhat weak with a spongy mainspring and a weak handspring that does not always correctly rotate the cylinder. Grip with moderate wear, dings and mars.

All private-party purchases of modern firearms will be delivered to Guns N Ammo as soon as possible following Nevada Gun Auctions’ receipt of payment in full.
- California Residents — California residents holding a valid Curio & Relic License may pick up eligible firearms directly from our Nevada facility; however, Nevada Gun Auctions does not ship C&R firearms directly into California. All such transactions will be handled exclusively through Guns N Ammo.
- Shipping — All Nevada Gun Auctions shipments are sent via FedEx with adult signature required and insured for 1.5% of the purchase price unless waived in writing. Shipping costs for each lot are published within the lot description. Handguns are required by law to ship via FedEx 2Day Air.
