.44 caliber. 7.875" barrel. SN: 7277 (mfg. ca. 1861). Blued and color casehardened finish, brass triggerguard, smooth walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with four screw frame cut for stock, six chambered fluted cylinder, creeping loading lever, hammer nose notch rear sight and German silver front sight blade. One line New York barrel address, traces of patent date in cylinder flute, and weak COLT'S/PATENT mark on lower left of frame. Matching serial numbers on all metal parts, including the rear face of the cylinder and wedge. A rather high serial numbered gun for a "Fluted Army" and likely one of the last ones produced.

Fair to Good. Bore heavily greased with moderate wear and visible rifling. Metal with indications of polishing, no original finish remaining and indications of some chemical toning. Markings vary from clear and crisp to very weak. Mechanically functional action. Grip with moderate wear and some sanding, with edges rounded and bumps and dings.
