Attractive six-point star constable badge for Inglewood Township, Los Angeles County, featuring a central standing bear within an oval field. The upper banner reads CONSTABLE, with INGLEWOOD TWP. and LOS ANGELES COUNTY across the lower ribbons, and a small blue enameled star accenting the bottom point. Executed in a gold-tone finish with blue enameled lettering, the reverse is stamped, believed to read “CHIRON STAMP CO., 224 W. FIRST ST., LOS ANGELES,” and is fitted with a vertical pinback assembly. Township constable badges such as this were issued to local peace officers responsible for serving warrants, court papers, and maintaining order within their jurisdiction prior to consolidation of many such functions under county sheriff administration.
