H. Pieper Belgian Single Shot .22 Rifle {ANT}

H. Pieper Belgian Single Shot breach loading .22 Rifle, 21.5" barrel not including chamber 24" including, Serial number: 439, circa 1888-1898. Finished blue and has wood furniture. The history of this model is not very well documented however the breach design was patented in 1888 and Henri Pieper died in 1898 and the company name changed to N. Pieper after his brother Nicolas. Therefore this piece must fall within that date range. "H. Pieper" is marked on top of the chamber, serial number is on bottom of barrel 3" ahead of foregrip, Belgian proof marks on left side of chamber covered when breach closed, these are all the marks on this piece. walnut stock with checkered rear grip and ornamental trigger guard, butt plate made of a darker wood or possibly guttapurcha. dimensions: 39" overall length. This firearm is antique and does not require special licensing. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $85 . Condition

Overall good condition. Bluing has mostly gone brown where present, worn away along edges of octagonal barrel. Has spots of black rust and light pitting along length. Hammer spur cut off and improvised one made of thick wire added. Rifling present however pitted all the way down, gets worse the closer to the breach you get. Has replacement screws in tang and trigger guard, stock broken and repaired at wrist.
