A handsome .22 long rifle caliber falling block lever action rifle by the J. Stevens A. & T. Co. of Chicopee Falls, Mass., U.S.A. It is marked “Stevens Maynard Jr.” on one of the flats of the octagonal breech, a clear tribute to the famous Maynard Rifle of Civil War and later fame. The rifle is take-down, and the barrel is octagonal for the first 5 1/4 inches. The gun has an under-lever to lower the barrel and expose the breech. The gun is contained in a non-original cardboard box with pieces of wood to keep it secure. 18 inch barrel (mfg. circa pre-1919). Blued finish, walnut stock. No serial number.
