Standard Springfield markings, lock dated 1851. no visible date on the tang. No visible cartouches. Missing the ramrod. Triggerguard bow is reversed, placing the sling swivel at the rear.

Good. Bore heavily oxidized with some pitting. Metal lightly cleaned to a dull silvery gray appearance with moderate pitting in the breech area. Lock markings remain clear. Mechanically functional lock. Percussion cone is an incorrect replacement. Wood with a repaired break in the wrist and chip missing from the upper rear of the lock area. Wood showing moderate wear and sanded, with numerous bumps, dings and mars.
