WWII-era U.S. Navy diving knife manufactured by Union Cutlery Co. of Olean, New York, bearing the early KA-BAR trademark and retaining its original brass scabbard. The knife features a wood grip with turned ring decoration and metal pommel cap, a single-edged blade with sawback spine, and threaded guard assembly designed to secure the knife within the heavy brass sheath. Accompanied by a braided rope lanyard. Diving knives of this pattern were carried by Navy divers and underwater demolition personnel during the Second World War and represent one of the more distinctive specialized edged weapons of the period.
