World War Two German 1st Pattern Luftwaffe Dagger made by "Gebr. Heller Marienthal b.Schweina/thr.", balloon man marker mark. Very good looking toning to fittings.
The 1st Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Wehrmacht Luftwaffe Borddolch), was modeled after the 55cm DLV Leader Pattern Dirk. It was introduced in late-1934, for wear by officers and senior NCOs. After the 2nd Model dagger was introduced in October 1937, these continued to be worn by junior NCO's and other ranking officials who were entitled to wear one of the various air crew badges. It could also be received and worn as an award or presentation piece.

Blade excellent condition with some light blemishes. Silver finish on high points of cross guard and pommel worn to reveal brass colored base layer. Moroccan blue leather, extremely fine, only the edge near the bottom has a few knicks. Grip has expected handling wear.
