Original WWII German Navy "Kriegsmarine" M40 steel combat helmet retaining traces of its gold eagle decal on the left side and much of its textured field-gray combat finish. The shell displays the characteristic stamped ventilation holes and rolled edge associated with the M40 pattern introduced in 1940. Interior side skirt with faint stamped shell size/manufacturer code appearing to read “SE66.” Interior retains its original leather liner with drawstring present, original liner band, and partial chinstrap assembly. The rear interior skirt is hand-painted “Uffz. Zabel,” likely identifying the wartime owner as an Unteroffizier (non-commissioned officer) named Zabel.

Condition
Original untouched condition with scattered oxidation, finish loss, and field wear consistent with age and service use. Heer decal remains partially visible. Leather liner exhibits age-related dryness and wear but remains intact with original tie string present. Chinstrap present with wear and age cracking. Overall presents as an authentic period-used example.

All private-party purchases of modern firearms will be delivered to Guns N Ammo as soon as possible following Nevada Gun Auctions’ receipt of payment in full.
- California Residents — California residents holding a valid Curio & Relic License may pick up eligible firearms directly from our Nevada facility; however, Nevada Gun Auctions does not ship C&R firearms directly into California. All such transactions will be handled exclusively through Guns N Ammo.
- Shipping — All Nevada Gun Auctions shipments are sent via FedEx with adult signature required and insured for 1.5% of the purchase price unless waived in writing. Shipping costs for each lot are published within the lot description. Handguns are required by law to ship via FedEx 2Day Air.
