World War Two Leo Baker fighting knife. Maker mark "L. BAKER" deeply stamped on the left side of blade. The curved grip is constructed of thick leather washers. Has a steel guard, and a lead pommel. Not much is known about the maker, Leo F. Baker. He was from Chicago and was a blacksmith for over 40 years. He filed patents some of his knife designs. In addition to making fighting knives he also produced civilian hunting knives. He was notable a
t the time for having made knives that could punch through steel without damaging the knife blade and using this in advertising.

Blade has been "grinder polished" Leather grip has some very minor shrinkage, overall excellent, no big gouges or chunks missing from the leather, all washers tight.
