Well-matched pair of German WWII combat assault badges, both die-struck in zinc. The General Assault Badge features a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a swastika above an oak leaf wreath enclosing crossed bayonet and stick grenade; the reverse is marked “JFS” for Josef Feix & Söhne, Gablonz. Instituted in 1940, it was awarded to soldiers participating in repeated ground assaults not qualifying for the Infantry Assault Badge, often including engineers and artillery crews. The Panzer Assault Badge depicts a right-facing tank beneath a national eagle within an oval oak leaf wreath; the reverse bears a faint “SA” maker’s mark, attributed to Sohni, Heubach. Instituted in 1939, it was awarded to armored troops for participation in tank-led combat operations. Both examples are of solid die-struck construction with integral hinge, pin, and catch assemblies, representing two distinct Wehrmacht combat awards recognizing frontline service.

Dimensions approx.: 2.375 x 1.75 in.

Condition

Good overall, both badges exhibiting zinc oxidation, surface pitting, and loss of original finish. The General Assault Badge shows moderate corrosion spotting; the Panzer Assault Badge retains clearer detail but shows comparable finish loss. Hardware intact and functional on both examples.
