Distinctive grouping of two U.S. World War I edged weapons, consisting of a Model 1917 trench knife and a Model 1917 bolo knife with scabbard. The trench knife features a cast knuckle guard marked “A.C.CO. U.S.A. 1917,” with contoured wooden grip and integral guard designed for close-quarters combat in trench warfare. The triangular blade is characteristic of the early U.S. trench knife pattern, intended primarily for thrusting. The accompanying Model 1917 bolo knife retains its broad, forward-weighted blade form and wooden grip scales, designed as a utility and clearing tool for brush as well as general field use. The bolo is housed in a period canvas-covered scabbard with leather tip and throat. Both patterns were introduced in 1917 to meet the demands of modern trench and field warfare, with the trench knife specifically developed for hand-to-hand combat and the bolo serving as a multipurpose field implement. Dimensions approx.: 15.5–16.5 in. length Pickup & Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. Shipping via FedEx Ground/Home within the continental U.S. for $65 + 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing). Direct Signature Required. Combined lot shipping available.

Condition

Good, with overall service wear consistent with age. Trench knife shows darkened patina to the guard and blade with minor surface wear; wooden grip remains solid with handling marks. Bolo knife exhibits wear to the blade finish with areas of discoloration and light surface spotting; grip shows age and use. Scabbard retains structure with visible wear to canvas and leather components.
