A Browning Arms Company manufactured Plains or Mountain Rifle in .54 caliber, 30.5" barrel, serial number 857PM01137, circa 1970s.
Made to commemorate the life of Jonathan Browning, founder of the Browning dynasty of gun makers. This is the steel mounted versin without a patch box, and was manufactured in the 1970s. It is half stocked with a heavy octagonal barrel and is supposed to resemble the rifles that Jonathan Browning would have made in the early days of his business. Despite being modern produced this still classifies as an antique under the reproductions and obsolete firing systems clause.
