An unusual and finely crafted antique sword cane featuring a carved ivory handle in the form of segmented bamboo, wrapped with a decorative coiled metal snake. The handle is marked “Sterling” and fitted with silver mounts, joining to a stained hardwood shaft carved in imitation of bamboo. The upper section detaches to reveal a concealed stiletto-form steel blade. Likely of Chinese or Japanese export origin for the Western market, ca. 1880–1900.
