A well-used hand mold of forged iron construction, designed for casting two ovoid .36 caliber bullets, each with a distinct central belt feature. The form is of the traditional tong type, with slightly arched handles and smooth operation at the hinge. The tool bears a faint engraved marking “226” along the exterior handle. Characteristic of molds produced for revolvers of the mid-1800s, the cavities are symmetrically cut and exhibit a well-centered alignment typical of competent shop manufacture of the period.
