The obverse displays the standard blackened iron cross with silver beaded edging and central “W” under the Prussian crown and dated “1914” below. The reverse fitted with a screwpost and its original circular backing plate marked M. Hansen , D.R.G.M. 650006 , and stamped 938 silver with crown and crescent hallmarks.
