A finely detailed silvered badge depicting a destroyer plowing through heavy seas, surrounded by a gilt oak-leaf wreath and surmounted by the Wehrmacht eagle. The reverse is unmarked, fitted with a block hinge, tapered pin, and round wire catch. Instituted in 1940, the Destroyer War Badge was awarded to Kriegsmarine sailors and officers for participation in naval engagements or for being wounded in action aboard a destroyer or other qualifying warship.
