Well-defined die-struck clasp featuring a central panel with crossed bayonet and hand grenade over a textured background, flanked by stylized oak leaves and horizontal ribbed panels extending outward. The reverse displays a circular maker’s mark associated with Gebrüder Wegerhoff, Lüdenscheid (GWL). Constructed in zinc with a silvered finish, now largely toned to a darker patina with remnants of the original finish visible in protected areas. The central backing plate remains present. Instituted in 1942, the Close Combat Clasp was awarded to German Army personnel for participation in close-quarters ground combat, with the Silver grade typically awarded for 30 days of such engagement.

Good, with noticeable finish loss and darkened patina consistent with zinc construction. Surface shows oxidation and wear, particularly to high points. Reverse retains functional hardware with typical age-related discoloration.
