Well-defined German WWII naval badge featuring an oval oak leaf wreath surmounted by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a swastika, enclosing a central depiction of a battleship cutting through stylized waves. The reverse bears a maker’s mark “f.o.”, attributed to Friedrich Orth, Wien (Vienna). Instituted in 1941, the High Seas Fleet Badge was awarded to personnel serving aboard battleships and cruisers who participated in combat operations against enemy naval forces. The badge is die-struck in zinc with a two-tone effect, the wreath retaining traces of gilt while the central ship displays a darker, contrasting finish. Solid construction with integral hinge, pin, and catch assembly.

Good overall, showing typical zinc oxidation and surface wear with partial loss of gilt finish to the wreath and toning to the central device. Detail remains clear with age-consistent patina.
