Harper's Ferry Model 1808 Flintlock Musket and Bayonet in .69 cal, 42" barrel, dated 1815. No serial number.
A fine original US Model 1808 Musket, manufactured at Harper's Ferry Arsenal, in original flintlock, and with exceptionally nice original markings, dated 1815. The musket is very similar to the French Charleville Musket, upon which it was patterned. The side of the barrel has an oval with US and another with VP for "Viewed and Proved." There are several stamps in the wood opposite the lock, including a script U over an H, a letter V, and the, letters AT. The musket is full-stocked and iron mounted. Also includes bayonet with scabbard.
Dimensions: 57.5" long overall.

Overall good, with clear markings, and all original parts, including original flint. There are some marks in the wood, including a sliver missing behind the middle band, and some marrs, marks, and pits in the metal, especially at the breech. Bayonet cleaned of rust at some point, pitting remains from the former rust.
