An elegant and evocative L-shaped gentleman’s cane, featuring a carved ivory handle depicting a suspended stag—legs bound and hanging vertical—rendered with anatomical precision and emotional intensity. This striking image, framed by oak leaves and acorns in low relief, evokes themes of the hunt and ritual slaughter, likely influenced by late 19th-century European sporting traditions. The horizontal grip of the handle is plain with finger grooves, while the detailed vertical section flows into a black horn or ebony collar and a long, tapering hardwood shaft of deep reddish tone. Finished with a metal ferrule for durability. Length of shaft: approx. 29.25 in. Length of ivory handle: approx. 3.5 in. Overall: approx. 33.5 in. Pickup & Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. Shipping via FedEx or USPS available within the continental U.S. for $100. All shipments include Direct Signature Required and full replacement value insurance at a rate of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless the buyer accepts full liability in writing. Combined lot shipping is typically discounted. Important Notice on Ivory Restrictions: Due to state law, this item cannot be shipped to the following jurisdictions, regardless of age or percentage of ivory content: Hawaii, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Washington, or the District of Columbia. Condition

Very good condition. The ivory displays a warm age patina with minor age-typical surface lines but no cracks or repairs. Carving is crisp and expressive. Shaft is straight and sound with light wear; ferrule intact and secure.
