J.P. Clabrough & Bros Double Barrel Damascus Shotgun, 12 gauge, 30" barrels, choked .040" in both barrels, serial number 4317, circa 1887-1892. J.P. Clabrough & Bros low-grade double gun, with first-style hammerless lock plate and Rogers' patent internal lock parts (with single spring acting as sear and main spring), The barrel top rib is engraved "J. P. CLABROUGH & BROS. LONDON FINE DAMASCUS", and has a doll's head extension. It has standard 1855-1904 Birmingham proof marks and the 1887-1925 choke proof marks. The hard rubber butt plate is marked "CLABROUGH DUCK & QUAIL GUN TRADE MARK". There is a vacant German silver stock escutcheon on the underside of the butt stock. The action flat is stamped "C’BRO'S/ PATENT JAN'Y 81/ 397", all within a diamond shaped border, and also stamped "J. P. CLABROUGH & BROS MAKERS PATENT ACTION 257764". The gun has a Deeley and Edge fore-end latch and the refined shorter cocking lever protruding from the front of the action. This gun is published on page 146 of J.P.
