Mid-19th Century Embossed Copper and Brass Powder Flask, “Eagle and Floral Scroll” Pattern
Description: Mid-19th-century copper powder flask with an embossed patriotic design featuring a spread-winged American eagle with shield, arrows, and olive branch surrounded by ornate floral scrollwork. The brass top bears a faint “PATENT” marking and retains its original adjustable spout and functioning spring charger. This pattern, widely attributed to American Flask & Cap Co. of Waterbury, Connecticut, reflects the post-Mexican War era’s blending of martial and decorative motifs for use with civilian and military firearms alike.
