N.P. Ames 1838 dated Peace Flask Nathan P. Ames, a machinist based in Springfield, Massachusetts, developed The “Peace flask” design which featured a pair of clasped hands within a circle of stars and symbolized friendship and brotherhood between the states of the Union. Ames was under military contract from 1837-1846 making this second year production. The “peace flask” design proved so popular that it was copied by other military contractors.
