U.S. Model 1917 Enfield service rifle in .30-06, 26" barrel, Serial number 1140614, circa 1917-1919.
This is numerically the main service rifle carried by U.S. Troops in France and Belgium during WWI. This one is interesting having been manufactured for the U.S. Forces at the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Eddystone, Pennsylvania. The rifle has a full walnut stock with hand-guard, and blued steel mounts and bolt and has likely be arsenal refurbished at least once, with a thicker applied paint like finish on the receiver.. There is an Ordnance flaming bomb stamp on the left side of the receiver. The rifle has a modern made brown leather sling of the Springfield style.

Condition
Very good condition with a crisp, clean action. The bore is dark but very good with clear rifling. There are a number of small marks in the stock from handling. The metal retains most of its finish, some chipping to the paint around the top of the rear sight walls. The non paint finishes are worn and browned.
