.22RF Short. 2” octagon to round barrel. SN: 7682. Blued barrel, brass frame, smooth walnut grips. No external markings. Left frame numbered “7682” under grip. Bottom of barrel numbered “682”, as are the grips. An extremely small, single shot, single action, spur trigger, pivoting barrel watch pocket sized derringer made without sights. This is the early production version with the spring-loaded ball action lock, which was replaced with a push button release on later production guns. There is some confusion regarding the number of these guns that were produced circa 1871-1890 by the firm. Serial numbers suggest production up to about 27,000, but the irregularities of the serial numbering system suggests production was much lower. One of the smallest of the American cartridge derringers to be produced. Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. It can also be delivered to the Annex Auctions facility for pick up in Sacramento for $25 or shipped via FedEx or USPS within the continental U.S. for $85. All shipments include Direct Signature Required and full replacement value insurance at a rate of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless the buyer accepts full liability in writing. Combined lot shipping is typically discounted.

Condition

Good. Metal with no real finish remaining and a dull pewter patina that shows freckled oxidation and mottled age discoloration. Frame with a rich butterscotch patina. Mechanically functional action. Bore fair, moderately oxidized and lightly pitted with no visible rifling. Grips good with some scattered bumps, dings and mars.
