.54 caliber. 8.5” barrel. NSN. Bright finish, brass flash pan, iron furniture, walnut stock. Lock marked with a small “{Eagle Head}/A. WATERS/MILBURY, MS./1837”. Breech with “U.S./LS/P” inspection marks. Counterpane with two weak script cartouches, the JH of sub-inspector Joseph Hannis and the final acceptance HKC of Ordnance Officer Henry Knox Craig. Small sub-inspection marks appear throughout. Lock remains in original flint with matching assembly marks throughout. Retains original captive swivel ramrod. The US Model 1836 pistol was made in large quantities between 1837 and 1844 with some 41,000 being produced by two contractors, Robert Johnson and Asa Waters. Johnson produced slightly fewer of the guns at 18,000, with Waters producing the balance of 23,000. It was the last US military flintlock pistol and the standard pistol issued from the Seminole Wars through the Mexican American War. Thousands of these guns saw a second life during the American Civil War altered to percussion.

Condition
About Good. Metal moderately oxidized with a dull gray patina and salt and pepper discoloration and scattered light surface roughness and some light pitting. Markings in metal relatively clear, weak in wood. Mechanically functional lock remains in original flint. Smooth bore is fair, dark, moderately oxidized and pitted. Wood fair to good, well worn, sanded with rounded edges and with chipped loss and wood filler around the edges of the lock mortise. Wood also with scattered bumps, dings and mars.

All private-party purchases of modern firearms will be delivered to Guns N Ammo as soon as possible following Nevada Gun Auctions’ receipt of payment in full.
- California Residents — California residents holding a valid Curio & Relic License may pick up eligible firearms directly from our Nevada facility; however, Nevada Gun Auctions does not ship C&R firearms directly into California. All such transactions will be handled exclusively through Guns N Ammo.
- Shipping — All Nevada Gun Auctions shipments are sent via FedEx with adult signature required and insured for 1.5% of the purchase price unless waived in writing. Shipping costs for each lot are published within the lot description. Handguns are required by law to ship via FedEx 2Day Air.
