W.H. Van Vlear, Stockton Percussion Rifle in .43 caliber. Has 29" barrel, NSN, made circa 1850s-1870s. Finished in the white with walnut stock. Van Vlear is probably best known for trying to build a powered sump pump to drain basements by combining a steam thresher's engine with a pump. While demonstrating it on Washington's Birthday the contraption exploded, killing 15 and seriously injuring 50 people.
