.53 caliber. 33" double keyed heavy octagon barrel, 1.25" across the flats. NSN. Moderately oxidized metal with brass furntiure and a full-length walnut stock with a cheek rest and patchbox with the release in toe. Single shot percussion muzzleloading rifle with buckhorn rear sight, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight blade, double set triggers and four-piece brass patchbox with Fleur-de-Lis finial. Top flat of barrel stamped with four gang stamps: "A. WURFLEIN, PHILA, MADE FOR, CHs CURRY." An old brass tipped wooden rarmod is secured by two brass thimbles and an entry pipe. Charles Curry was originally a Philadelphia baed gun maker and retailer who worked circa 1837-1852 before relocating to San Francisco, where he worked circa 1852-1863. A solid example of California "Bear Rifle" from the Gold Rush era and from one of the iconic gun retailers in California in the mid-19th century.

Condition
Good. Bore good. Moderately oxidized with some pitting and decent rifling. Metal with a mixtured of trace old blue finish, moderately oxidized brown patina and evenly distributed surface roughness with some pitting. Brass with a moderately oxidized patina. Markings remain legible. Lock remains mechanically functional if the set trigger is "set" prior to cocking. Percussion cone (nipple) broken. Hammer nose skirt chipped and damaged. Stock wtih moderate wear, a couple of cracks in the stock toe, a repair at the wrist behind the hammer and numerous bumps, dings and mars. Foend with some small repaired cracks and some areas of minor wood restoration.

- California Residents — California residents holding a valid Curio & Relic License may pick up eligible firearms directly from our Nevada facility; however, Nevada Gun Auctions does not ship C&R firearms directly into California. All such transactions will be handled exclusively through Guns N Ammo.
- Shipping — All Nevada Gun Auctions shipments are sent via FedEx with adult signature required and insured for 1.5% of the purchase price unless waived in writing. Shipping costs for each lot are published within the lot description. Handguns are required by law to ship via FedEx 2Day Air.
