.50 caliber. 20" barrel. SN: 13618. Blued and color casehardend finish, walnut buttstock. Single shot percussion breechloading carbine with leaf rear sight and dovetailed blade front sight and saddle bar with ring. Standard Maynard markings on the receiver and two legible cartouches on the reverse wrist. This carbine is listed by serial number on page 245 of Volume 4 of the Springfield Research Service Serial Number Books as being issued to Company A of the 14th Kansas Cavalry. It was in their possession in November of 1864. The regiment served in the Departments of Missouri and Arkansas and was at the Battle of Cabin Creek and involved in operations against the Confederate guerrilla Quantrill in Kansas as well as the Massacre in Lawrence.

Condition

Good. Bore fair, rusty and dark wtih visible rifling. Metal heavily oxidized with scattered surface roughness and some pitting, retaining no finish. Markings in metal remain legible. Mechanically functional action. Wood well worn with a 4.5" long sliver missing at the obverse wrist, running from the receiver to the comb, along the tang. Otherwise with numerous bumps, dings and mars.

    • 2–4 firearms: $50 each
    • 5–9 firearms: $25 each
    • 10 or more firearms: $15 each

    Shipping costs within the continental United States generally range:

    • Handguns: $35–40 each
    • Long guns: $75–100 each

    All private-party purchases of modern firearms will be delivered to Guns N Ammo as soon as possible following Nevada Gun Auctions’ receipt of payment in full.

  • California Residents — California residents holding a valid Curio & Relic License may pick up eligible firearms directly from our Nevada facility; however, Nevada Gun Auctions does not ship C&R firearms directly into California. All such transactions will be handled exclusively through Guns N Ammo.
  • Shipping — All Nevada Gun Auctions shipments are sent via FedEx with adult signature required and insured for 1.5% of the purchase price unless waived in writing. Shipping costs for each lot are published within the lot description. Handguns are required by law to ship via FedEx 2Day Air.
