Imperial German Model 1916 Stahlhelm of World War I origin, subsequently repurposed for military or paramilitary use in Afghanistan. The helmet retains its characteristic rolled edge, separate vent lugs, and overall M16 profile, while the interior has been refitted with a simplified three-pad leather liner system and replacement leather chinstrap typical of later regional reuse. The exterior displays a worn field-gray finish with scattered abrasions and age-related wear consistent with extended service life. Helmets of this type were widely exported, captured, or transferred throughout the Middle East and Central Asia during the twentieth century, where many continued in use long after the First World War.
