World War Two Military Archive of Lt. Col. Jeremiah J. Hyland. He was a cavalry man, more than likely a tanker considering some of the items in this group. 3rd infantry division in Italy during the war, where he was wounded in action on May 31st 1944. He also received the combat infantry badge and bronze star among other awards. This group contains his cased purple heart and the award certificate for it. Two cased bronze stars, one is named to him the other is not. Two photos of him in uniform. One of his dog tags. Various pieces of his uniform insignia such as patches, ribbons, over seas stripes, loose medals, brass cavalry and U.S. pins, etc. All of this loose insignia is in a box mixed together with souvenirs from both during the war and after. Notable souvenirs include: German army aluminum belt buckle, general assault badge, minesweeper badge, wound badge, army sports badge, a Luftwaffe collar tab, an Italian tanker's badge, and an Italian WW1 victory medal, . I am unsure of his entire service history but the box also contains a number of British medals and insignia, both wartime and post war.
