Two original six-count combustible envelope cartridge packets, each intended for .31 caliber percussion pocket revolvers. The first, marked “Made of Hazard’s Powder, for either Colt’s or Whitney’s Revolving Pocket Pistols,” bears the earlier form of labeling seen on mid-19th century production. The second example, produced with powder from the American Powder Co., is labeled for “Colt’s or Remington’s Revolving Pocket Pistols.” Both feature the “Warranted Superior Quality” marketing line typical of the era. These preloaded paper cartridges combined powder and projectile in a self-consuming envelope, simplifying loading for civilian and military use alike. Dimensions approx.: 1.25 x 2 x 0.5 in. each. Provenance: The Al and Carol Cali Collection. Pickup & Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. It can also be delivered to the Annex Auctions facility for pick up in Sacramento for $25 pre invoice. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $50 + 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing). Combined lot shipping available.

Condition

Good to very good overall. One packet with lighter-toned wrapper showing foxing and scattered abrasions, the other with slightly darker wrapper and small fold line on verso. Both remain intact with fully legible printed labels.
