Solid grouping of four mid-20th century Inglewood Police badges representing cadet, regular patrol, reserve, and motor divisions. Included are a Cadet badge numbered 1, a Policeman badge numbered 23, a Reserve badge numbered 204, and a Motor Police badge numbered 7. Each retains the classic eagle-over-shield design with blue enamel rank and department panels surrounding the City of Inglewood seal. Maker’s marks include “ENTENMANN-ROVIN CO./GENUINE ‘CARLTONE’/‘PLATILOY’/LOS ANGELES, 15” on the Cadet example; “ENTENMANN-ROVIN CO./GENUINE ‘CARLTONE GOLD’/PICO RIVERA, CALIF.” on the Policeman badge; “ENTENMANN-ROVIN CO./GENUINE ‘CARLTONE’/LOS ANGELES, 15” on the Reserve badge; and “ENTENMANN/LOS ANGELES” on the Motor Police example. The “Los Angeles 15” postal zone marking indicates pre-1963 manufacture. Instituted as part of the City of Inglewood’s municipal policing structure, these badges reflect the rank and functional divisions within the department during the mid-20th century, including the specialized motor unit responsible for traffic and motorcycle patrol duties.
