A striking figural powder flask by Bartram & Co. of Birmingham, England, featuring a fully modeled coiled sea serpent or fish with tightly detailed scales and a whimsical, stylized face. The flamelike collar at the neck transitions into a brass charger top marked “BARTRAM & CO.” Known to collectors as the “Sea Serpent Flask,” this design is among the most elaborate and desirable in 19th-century British flask production. Bartram’s figural flasks were both decorative and functional, widely sought after by sportsmen and officers of the period.
