A rare and desirable 19th-century wooden powder keg marked “Creedmoor Powder No. 2” from the Laflin & Rand Powder Company of New York. This model bears the iconic black and gold target-style label referencing Creedmoor, the famed Long Island rifle range established in 1873 and associated with national and international marksmanship contests. The Laflin & Rand company was among the earliest large-scale American powder producers and was eventually absorbed into DuPont by 1902. The keg features its original wood-staved body with thick banded hoops, intact filler bung, and a strong original label. These smaller kegs were often used by competitive shooters or small retailers. Dimensions: Approx. 7 in. diameter x 8 ½ in. high Pickup & Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. It can also be delivered to the Annex Auctions facility for pick up in Sacramento for $25, or shipped via FedEx or USPS within the continental U.S. for $70. Combined lot shipping is typically discounted.

Condition

Very good overall with scattered wear to the wooden staves and bands. Label remains crisp and largely intact. A few chips and age cracks are visible to hoops.
