A rare and desirable 19th-century wooden powder keg marked “Creedmoor Powder No. 2” from the Laflin & Rand Powder Company of New York. This model bears the iconic black and gold target-style label referencing Creedmoor, the famed Long Island rifle range established in 1873 and associated with national and international marksmanship contests. The Laflin & Rand company was among the earliest large-scale American powder producers and was eventually absorbed into DuPont by 1902. The keg features its original wood-staved body with thick banded hoops, intact filler bung, and a strong original label. These smaller kegs were often used by competitive shooters or small retailers.
