A charming and scarce wooden powder keg marked “Triple Refined Dead Shot Sporting Powder,” manufactured by the American Powder Company of Boston. This company operated during the mid to late 19th century and produced high-grade black powder marketed to sportsmen and hunters. The keg retains its original black-and-white pictorial label depicting a rural hunting scene with a rifleman and dog. The staved wooden body is bound with iron hoops, and the original wooden bung remains in place. A faded secondary label is present on the opposite end. This compact format suggests it was intended for personal or sporting use rather than commercial distribution.
