Classic magnetic Iron Cross First Class featuring a blackened iron core with raised swastika and the date “1939,” framed by a silvered beaded border. The Iron Cross was reinstituted in 1939 and awarded for acts of bravery in combat or leadership on the battlefield. This example is of flat construction and retains strong definition to the beaded frame and central device. The reverse features a vertical pin-back assembly and is stamped “L15” within a small rectangular cartouche on the pin arm, denoting manufacture by Friedrich Orth of Vienna.
Dimensions approx.: 1.75 x 1.75 in.

Very good. Obverse shows light wear to the blackened core with minor edge rubbing and slight oxidation visible at the inner frame seams. Silvered frame exhibits mild toning consistent with age. Reverse shows age-related patina and light surface discoloration. Pin assembly appears secure and functional.
