Distinctive stamped aluminum SS Totenkopf (death’s head) cap badge depicting the skull and crossbones motif long associated with German military units and adopted by the SS as one of its principal symbols. The badge shows the stylized skull with hollowed eyes and nose, well-defined teeth, and crossed bones extending behind the skull. The reverse retains its original three attachment prongs for mounting to the cap. The interior is marked “M9/72” beneath the skull, along with a small circular maker’s emblem above, consistent with period SS insignia manufacturing marks. The piece exhibits crisp die-struck detail with sharply defined edges and features.

Very good. Metal surfaces show age patina and scattered areas of oxidation on the reverse. Die details remain crisp with clearly defined teeth and facial features. All three mounting prongs remain present with evidence of prior uniform wear.
