Silver Iron Cross 1st Class with vaulted frame, marked 800 on the reverse, featuring twin screwpost fittings with domed brass retaining nuts. The iron core is finished in matte black with raised beaded borders and the crowned “W” above the date 1914. This privately purchased officer’s example exhibits a lightly arched profile, a style preferred for comfort and presentation on the tunic. Instituted in 1914, the Iron Cross 1st Class recognized acts of exceptional valor or distinguished leadership in battle.
