A postwar German Iron Cross 1st Class, 1957 issue, authorized under the Ordensgesetz for wear by previously decorated veterans of World War II. Constructed with a three-piece frame featuring a non-magnetic iron core and silvered border. The obverse displays a raised beaded edge surrounding a central oak-leaf cluster and the date “1939” below, replacing the earlier national emblem design. Reverse retains the original long tapered pin, hinge, and catch. This version was instituted in 1957 for lawful wear by veterans in the Federal Republic of Germany, maintaining the traditional form while omitting the banned symbol. Approx. 1.75 x 1.75 in. Provenance: The Estate of Walter Redling, Encino, Ca. Pickup & Shipping: This lot may be picked up free of charge in Gardnerville, NV. It can also be delivered to the Annex Auctions facility for pick up in Sacramento for $25 pre invoice. Shipping via FedEx within the continental U.S. for $50 + 1.5% insurance (unless waived in writing). Combined lot shipping available.
