Mounted two-place Spanish medal bar featuring: The Spanish Red Cross Merit Medal, white enamel cross with red circular center bearing the crowned monogram “M M” for Maria Cristina, suspended from its red and white ribbon with gilt crown suspension. Instituted in 1864, the award recognized acts of humanitarian aid and medical service during wartime and peacetime. The Campaign Medal for the Spanish Civil War, 1936–1939, struck in dark bronze with gilt border and suspension, depicting the lion of Castile and sunburst on the obverse, with the reverse inscribed “Arriba España” and showing the eagle of Saint John over arms of Castile and León. Awarded to those who participated in the Nationalist forces’ campaign during the Spanish Civil War. Both medals are mounted on a steel pin-back clasp for wear. Approx. 2.75 x 3 in. Very Good. Mild age toning and handling wear to ribbons, gilt with light fading and enamel intact.
