A World War I Iron Cross 1st Class with blackened iron core and silver frame, the obverse showing the crowned “W” cipher of Kaiser Wilhelm II above the date “1914.” The reverse is fitted with a sturdy pin-back clasp, hinge, and catch. The pin itself is stamped “KAG,” identifying Königliches Münzamt, Stuttgart as the maker. The Iron Cross 1st Class was awarded for repeated acts of gallantry in combat or exemplary military leadership, ranking above the Iron Cross 2nd Class.

Very Good. The iron core retains much of its original blackened finish with moderate wear, and the silver frame shows age toning. Reverse hardware intact and functional with clear maker’s mark.
