A silver and iron construction medal consisting of a blackened iron cross with beaded silver frame. The obverse bears the crowned “W” cipher and “1914” date of institution, while the reverse shows a crowned “FW” monogram above an oakleaf cluster and the “1813” institution date. Suspended from a black and white combatant’s ribbon fitted with a 1939 Wiederholungsspange (clasp) in silver, featuring the Wehrmacht eagle superimposed on a 1939-dated bar. The clasp was awarded to WWI veterans who had earned the Iron Cross and were again cited for bravery or leadership during WWII, symbolizing both continuity of service and renewed recognition by the Third Reich.
