Kriegsmarine U-Boat Front Clasp in Bronze (U-Boot-Frontspange in Bronze), instituted by Admiral Dönitz in May 1944 to recognize continued valor and service by U-boat crews. The obverse features a central submarine motif with swastika above, surrounded by a laurel wreath and flanked by stylized oak-leaf wings. The reverse is maker-marked “ENTWURF PEEKHAUS” (design by Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus) and “AUSF. SCHWERIN BERLIN 68” (manufacture by Schwerin of Berlin). Constructed of tombac or zinc with bronze finish, fitted with a horizontal pin, hinge, and catch assembly.
