Bronze-toned die-struck clasp featuring an oval center medallion with raised fouled anchor, flanked by stylized oak leaf clusters extending outward to each side. The reverse shows a flat, unmarked back with a long horizontal pin-back construction. Badge is unmarked, typical of field-issued examples. Instituted in 1944, this clasp was awarded to Kriegsmarine personnel for distinction in naval combat operations. Criteria included participation in a minimum number of combat missions, exemplary leadership during engagements, or repeated acts of valor at sea. It was intended as a visible mark of recognition for those who had endured prolonged and dangerous service aboard naval vessels in active theaters of war. As one of the later-war Kriegsmarine decorations, introduced only in 1944, surviving examples are comparatively scarcer than earlier naval awards.
