Mid-19th century large sporting powder flask with deeply embossed “Hunter and Buffalo” scene showing a Native American on horseback pursuing a buffalo, framed by oak leaf and acorn scrollwork, with a stag’s head above. The reverse side plain. Fitted with adjustable brass charger marked in grains (2¼–3¾), blue spring, and four suspension rings. The top bears a clear maker’s mark AM. FLASK & CAP CO. (for American Flask & Cap Company, Waterbury, Connecticut), active 1850–1870 and known for high-grade embossed copper and brass flasks.
