An excellent original WWI Imperial German Submarine War Badge, finely struck in gilt tombac by C. E. Juncker of Berlin. The obverse displays a central U-boat viewed from the side, set within a laurel wreath surmounted by the Imperial crown. The reverse bears the maker’s mark “C. E. Juncker, Berlin,” with a functional pin, hinge, and catch. Instituted in 1918, the badge was awarded to German Navy U-boat crews for completion of at least one operational war patrol or for exceptional service aboard submarines during World War I.
